The most incredible awe-inspiring place with a fantastic atmosphere before, during and after the performance. We saw an opera here on a beautiful August evening but the general experience of being where people had been for 2000 years, together with the sunset, stole the show for me. The facilities were thankfully much more modern! A definite must-see in Verona and very affordable to watch a performance.

As well as the Verona Arena being beautiful on the inside, if you climb to the top, you can see a great view of the rest of Verona outside. When we went, it was half-price tickets for everyone! I'd recommend you to go there!

It's do beautiful and romantic and everything is within walking distance for sightseeing. So much to choose from restaurant wise. Verona is perfect for a two day getaway or two weeks holiday because you can see and do so much in a very short space of time but there is always much more to discover by Staying longer.

The arena is an amazing historical monument, the second largest in Italy. Entry is €10 and cheaper if you have a valid student card. There are explanations of the history in English and Italian. It's one of many beautiful sights worth seeing in Verona, Italia.

Always worth a visit whatever time of year. Lots of cafes, bars surround the arena. Beautiful shops and places to people watch. Christmas markets in the piazza is always worth a visit as the town is always beautifully decorated! Well worth a visit!

Beautiful Roman arena where concerts and events are held. Can just be visited to walk around and explore inside. Great views of the whole city from the top. Relaxing park and great restaurants all around it

The arena was absolutely gorgeous and right in the center of the city. Very cool place to see! We didn't go in, as we were running out of time and it was 10 Euros a person to enter. We didn't feel the need to see the inside, but if we had a bit more time, we might have gone in.

The most interesting Roman amphitheater, after the Colosseum. It is a must to see it! Very beautiful, wonderful, how to live a moment in the ancient Rome! I have seen it many times. You too, look at it once!

Definitely you have to visit Verona. It's a old beautiful place to discover and try a glass or a bottle of wine and an Italian pizza also. I had a great time there.

Impressive arena! A must see if you have any interest in Roman architecture. The view from the top is amazing. But large parts are closed to visitors and the modern seating feels out of place in this magnificent building. Still I would love to see a performance here.

We liked it a lot. My kids liked climbing up to the top of the arena. It was neat to stand where gladiators had once fought. It made us feel connected to history. The bathrooms are disgusting though, so go before you visit.

Loved Verona! Would spend 2 days. Happened to be there late April 2018 and a music festival was happening and the Arena area was filled with great food vendors.

I thought at 10 euros to get in, the Arena was expensive for what you got. I appreciate that it is an ancient building and is still being used. However there was very little information about the history and the atmosphere was interrupted by drills and hammering from the scene builders for the next performance. Most of the arena is fitted with modern seats for performances so again this affects the atmosphere. Finally the toilets were a disgrace, covered in graffiti and filthy! If I would like to see an opera there and pay the going rate but for any tourist I would suggest looking from the outside is just as good and it would save you a fortune!

I have visited the arena both for the opera and just to visit. Either way it's just fantastic. If you want the most memorable spectacle of your life then you simply must visit the opera here.

Historical building which is still used for contemporary operatic performances. Visited in early July. At the time of posting the entry fee was €10. Busy and popular tourist 'must see' in Verona. Only a small section was available to walk around as they were preparing the stage for a performance. Long queues to enter and frankly not much to see inside. Not sure what I was expecting but decidedly underwhelmed. Should really be free to enter when it is mostly closed off. It was cool and quiet though. Would have liked more info inside about history etc.

You can't go to Verona without seeing the Arena. The ancient stadium was built before the Colosseum and was the fourth largest arena in ancient Rome. That said it looks small from the outside and it's only until you walk in and climbed the steps to the last row that you grasp its true dimensions. Depending on when you arrive there could be a long line or very few people waiting near the two ticket booths at the entrance. An adult ticket is €10 and kids under 12 pay €1. That's a lot for a visit that lasts around 30 minutes but you can't put a price on history and could opt for the Verona card (€18) that includes several other sites. Entry comes with a brochure that explains the Arena's past and you can wander around the corridors populated by spectators in antiquity and prostitutes in the Middle Ages. There is no audio guide unfortunately but tours can be arranged privately. The best time to see the Arena is when there's a concert or event performed. Verona has a popular summer lyric festival that's made even more dramatic with the backdrop of the Arena. Enjoy

Just beautiful. We saw Aida and the production was amazing! The costumes, set, and singing were fabulous. It is wonderful that the arena is in such good condition after all these centuries. And the piazza outside is beautiful.

The Arena so is magic. When I saw it from the outside I was immediately attracted and astonished. I visited it many times and a couple of times I went there to see few concerts. Everything is so cool when you are inside it. Watching the Opera is something in the Arena is something that everybody should try at least once in a lifetime.

Fantastic Arena. Staff are very helpful and courtesy. The Operas I saw were stupendous. I will come back again
Aster Patricia | ago 16, 2018
Incredible experience! We bought cheap seats €25 each and brought our own cushions. Wine was €5 a cup. The view was fantastic! Didn't plan on staying for the whole thing as Aida is very long, however, we did stay as it was so fantastic. Highly recommend going to the Arena to see the opera as a must do in Verona. You can bring in water under 500mls and a small snack if needed. I would also recommend mosquito spray.

Fantastic outdoors Arena with a historic ambiance. Beautiful performance with talented singers and dancers. Carmen at this historic scene was a joy and a dream to experience. Mind you, recommend everyone to buy a seat cushion before entering the Arena. The stone shelves are a bit rough considering the 3- 4 hours spent at the Arena. Doors open a couple of hours before the show. Depending on where you would like to sit determine the hours spent in a queue. Showed up an hour before and ended up high up on the side. Happy with the placement, saw the whole stage, but the the sound was a bit low considering the fact that they don't use microphones. All in all, great experience and recommend everyone who visits Verona and enjoy Opera to go!

Compared to other Arenas, this just isn't up to par. Mainly used as a music venue which is really cool, but really seems to have lost it's identity as regards to its historical value. Virtually no signs inside explaining the historic nature, just toilet signs every 20 feet, which are usually closed as there used for theatre events. Reception staff were polite and friendly.

Roman historical arena in very good condition. We went there in summer in the evening for the opera performance. It was fantastic! We had the not numbered seats in the back. You are a bit far back but you have a great view over everything and the opera can be well heard. It can get hot in there even in the evening but the whole experience was great and can be fully recommended!
