An excellent spot to spend the afternoon with your kids, just don't show up past 5pm, as that's the general feeding time and Feierabend for the animals.
Good place to spend a whole day.. sit and talk to friends..✌️👌
This is the biggest and best in Catagory 2 zoo. You can enjoy watching many animals from close proximity. The variety of collection is also great which makes it worthy to pay a visit here.
Wonderful zoo--many different, well-cared-for animals, lots of educational games and signs, and a nice selection of foods and snacks. So big you can't see it all in one day. Would definitely recommend!
Super super super! Beautiful zoo in a forest/ natural park setting. Very happy animals! HUGE ZOO!!

This is a beautiful zoo. We spent a total of 6 hours here, without children and without staying too long at places. There’s enough ground to cover and things to see and do for kids, to spend a full day here if you wish. As you might have guessed, be prepared to walk a lot. It is in a forest. Rent a trolley (bollerwagon) if you come with small kids. We arrived a bit before noon, and the primary parking lot was full. When leaving the parking area... We followed the first sign of the alternative parking lot, and then took a right turn on the intersection of Barnstorfer Ring / Groß Schwaßer Weg. There's a parking lot that's free, and you can park as long as you wish. You must cross the intersection onto the "Am Westfriedhof" to walk through the forest to the Zoo entrance. You can also park at the "Am Westfriedhof" parking lot, but it's only allowed for 3 hours. What I did not like were the following things; But could be this is incidental. A) Bottles of coke are sold at different places; Vending machine E2.50 Restaurant E2.80 Restaurant E2.55 + E0.25 deposit. When buying the bottle at the restaurant, paying E2.80 and then trying to return it to get my E0.25 back – the lady said there was no deposit on the bottle. Then later she corrected herself, and said it is on there, but they don’t take them back. Therefore, the bottle landed in the trashcan. For a zoo, very environment unfriendly. B) I had to try ‘backfisch’, fried fish. Apparently, it is not fried freshly. As I stood in line for at least five minutes, and no ordered any fried fish, nor did I see the person at the stand fry any fish. By the time I ordered my fried fish, he took one from a side plate and give it to me. It was cold. When taking my first bite, quite some liquid came running out of the fish. Not sure that is normal. Aside from that, he was very sparingly with the sauce. The fish was good, but cold and at the end without sauce.
Amazing ZOO. Great for children as well as adults. We enjoyed Darwineum the most.
Nice zoo, doesn't have so many big stars but everything is nicely presented and the animals seem satisfied enough.
Very nice zoo and huge. You can easily wander around all day long. They have lots of different animals from all over the world. I was most surprised by the hippo. The Darwineum is exceptional and a must see when you want to learn or teach your children how the world came to life. There are also playground and stations for the kids to play but also learn at the same time e.g. the flow of water. This zoo really deserves the title "best zoo in Europe". If you spend time in Rostock you really should check it out!
