Enjoyed our visit. The animals are very well looked after. Interesting items in the museum. Love the cockatoo's... Recommend a visit.
It's lovely to see animals that have been mistreated or abandoned now happy and well looked after. Between 1pm-2pm you can see the shire horses being walked from their stables to the field. They are beautiful. Definitely with a visit if you care about animals.
Fantastic sanctuary for Horses +other Animals along with a museum .Have a Great tea room for refreshments +drinks +a visitors shop to buy all your souvenirs from. The staff here are very friendly +carry out an amazing number of things to look after all the animals which are at Hillside .Well Done to all concerned who have the welfare for Horses + Animals. Keep the good work up.
Hillside does a heroic job of safely rescuing abandoned or abused animals. There's a 3 legged pig, loads of horses, donkeys (1 played a joke on me & laughed), chickens that roam free (we got followed!), & all the animals have their stories posted. It's terrifying to know the ordeal these animals went through. Be mindful of their past & avoid screaming or talking loudly at them. I was amazed to see a few insensitive people screaming at the animals to come to them. The money from the store, cafe & visit to towards to maintenance of the facilities and animals. There's warnings everywhere that animals can bite. We were very gentle & nine of the animals bit...be mindful of body language & stay calm around them. Very moving environment.
Went here today with my girls was taken back about how much it cost but then with the entrance payment we got to adopt horse for a year... They are lots of animals and they is little store which I felt was like a charity shop but that's ok as all donations go to shelter and horses. Think it would be great idea for you to be able to hold small animals like rabbits and the ginniepigs. Sandwiches was bit dry but the ladies was friendly bit pricey to be hoinst. The children area is ok needs more clear signage tho to point you in right direction when you get to the single track
Great place been there now 3 years running and still love it. It had an exellent children's play area incase of kids getting bored. Really friendly staff and a really clean place. Great animals (horses, pigs, birds, rabbit, donkeys, sheep and a few more awsome animals) really clean living spaces for them. Great gift shop but can sometimes be a little over priced for some items. Also has a cafe in need of a snack, toilets and they have got 2 ric - rack shops. Would adopt an animal as each time we have it is great and is really good.
A MUST. Lovely place. Just visited....Something for everyone...horses, donkeys, pigs, llamas, bunnies, chickens etc etc. Little children will love getting so close to the animals. Also farm vehicles. They do a fantastic job rescuing hundreds of animals and Birds. They depend on donations....I figured would I really miss £5 a month direct debit to help them?.....I bet most people wouldnt! Thanks to these people saving unwanted and abused animals and birds...If you are an animal lover bring some tissues for some of the stories you will read...thankfully all with happy endings!
Not even worth 1 star. First of all it is not on any maps so when we found it, WE WERNET EVEN IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!! the kennels just shut so they didn't let us walk the dogs. 1 good point they did let us use the toilets. ok
Lovely place to visit. Lots of animals to see. Small park. Dogs allowed.
Would defently recommend to have a look at the lovely website and great ideas they have to help the Animals you can shop for Nice Handbags to jewellery and beautiful summer scarfs or as just give as little as a pound to support this great organisation .
The children enjoyed seeing all the animals, even though it was very muddy. I would have given more stars, however I don't appreciate being preached at about my lifestyle. I am a meat eater, but throughout the centre (even on the mugs) was the message 'if you love animals, why eat them?'. I agree my lifestyle choices aren't to everyone's tastes, but it's my life and I should be able to live it how I like.....after all "you pay your money and you make your choices".
Great place. Have donated for years and on our first visit was amazed of the amount of space and how happy the animals looked. Keep up the amazing work ❤️
