Sea Foam Motel is a historic motel located at Nags Head, Dare County, North Carolina. It was built in 1948 with additions made through 1964, and is a one- to two-story, Modern style brick building. It consists of three major sections that form a "U"-shape enclosing a large parking area on three sides. Also on the property are the contributing swimming pool (1948), playground (c. 1950), and shuffle board court (c. 1950).
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
My husband and I have made staying at the Sea Foam a yearly tradition. Itâs vintage Nags Head: cozy, simple and clean. You are right on the beach and within easy walking distance of restaurants, stores and Jeanetteâs Pier. The owners and staff are always friendly and accommodating. Be sure to ask about which restaurants are the best; you wonât be disappointed.

I love Sea Foam!! I discovered this place 10 years ago and have been coming back ever since. It has such a sweet, old time, family vibe with a super friendly staff. A taste of days gone by. It's fun to be near Jenette's Pier, and even more fun to be a hop, skip and a jump from Cape Hatteras National Seashore. I adore this motel!!! I hope to keep visiting until the end of my days.

Compared to the rest of the area, this is the place where you should stay. The rooms are very decent and the motel is right on the beach. Some rooms are basically already in the sand. It is a very private feeling. Motel is also close to some good eating places and shops and entertainment. Would recommend for small or large groups. Owners are very nice people.

My boyfriend and I stayed a few nights here in the off-season. Everything looked very clean and they were just putting a fresh coat of paint on things. We liked that the prices were good for oceanfront view and there was a secluded balcony where we were able to sit have a drink and look out into the ocean etc. so it definitely had its charm. While researching hotels it was very important to me that we stayed in a hotel with a pool for one because when we were visiting the ocean was too cold for swimming but also because of the dangerous rip currents that are pretty common on the Outer Banks. The Seafoam Hotelâs website stated that they had a heated pool that was open on May 1 but when we arrived on April 30 I asked if the pool would be open and they stated that it wouldnât be due to not having had a visit from an âinspectorâ. I understand that this may have been something that was outside of hotel management control however it was disappointing for me and management simply brushed it off as if thatâs perfectly OK to say you have a pool and then not have a pool available. It was an important part of the vacation for me. No discount was offered, and I am too shy to have asked. Also when asked if they had any silverware, even plastic, they said there would be some in the room. There was not, so we ate our lunch on the beach with our hands. It may seem petty but because of the lack of any real âhospitalityâ when we decided to stay a few extra nights we moved to another hotel a few blocks up that had an indoor and outdoor pool and a Jacuzzi. I called ahead of booking to make sure that theirs was operational! I donât have a ton of experience staying in hotels so I learned my lesson about the pool situation. That being said, the amenities at the other hotel were so much better, that I realized this hotel really wasnât that great. Itâs a clean place to sleep when youâre not on the beach, but it isnât a joy to stay at.
