Fort Vredeburg Museum (official name: Museum Benteng Vredeburg Yogyakarta) was a former colonial fortress located in the city of Yogyakarta. The military complex has been converted into a museum of the Indonesian independence struggle which was opened in 1992. It is located in front of Gedung Agung and near the Kraton Yogyakarta (Sultan's Palace).

This museum is located in "kilometer nol" Jogjakarta. Previously a Dutch Fortress, it has been converted into an Independence Struggle Museum in 1992. Undergoing several major renovations & redevelopments, Vredeburg is now one of the best museum one can visit in Jogjakarta. It's arranged in the existing structures, retaining the original fort's layout. The ticket is super cheap and cameras are allowed. Accessing this place is effortless, but I suggest to access by walking - since there is only a small parking area.

It was an amazing opportunity to observe the museum. Very cheap entry ticket compare the contains inside. The histories seem to be alive with the beautiful 4 or more dioramas. It is great. Very recommended. It will be better to come with online taxi since it will be hard to find a parking slot espescially in holidays. Clean and very well looked after property. Don't leave your garbage there.

This museum is recommended for today's students since they lack knowledge of the history of Indonesia on how our ancestors sacrificed anything including their lives to be independent. There are dioramas with different stages of history in this museum. Still, those amazed me. Nice dioramas. Even, now we can get some information on some tv screens provided among the dioramas. The park in this museum area has beautiful views with some statues. I took some pictures with the statues beside me. Yes, it is very interesting to pose uniquely with them. The management offers bikes for us to rent. So instead of walking around, we can save some calories by cycling while enjoying the beauty of this museum's surrounding. Enjoy Museum Vredeburg. Enjoy Yogyakarta!

A good place to learn history. The architecture still classic on the outside, but the exhibition room inside was modern. The entry fee also cheap.

This fort is a good place to visit. The ticket is quiet cheap both for local and foreigners. There are some dioramas which show some historical collections of Indonesia. The guides are so friendly and smart, some of them speak English fluently. There is also a library that provide many historical books.

This is probably the best museum I've ever went to. This place has a fantastic way of telling you the history of Indonesia struggle during its war time. The exhibits are well maintained and air conditioned.

The museum place was great, unique architecture. The museum part was quite enjoyable and informative. There are 3 dioramas. The first one is on the right side and the others are on the left side. The entrance ticket was not expensive, No guide which was such a pity because ancillary service like that is really needed in this place. I recommend you to visit this place before 11 am or after 3 pm since the temperature was too hot on the midday. But you can chill out in the cafe on the right side of the building. The food was great there and so comfortable. If you are lucky, you can enjoy a festival or an event there.

It's my fourth time in Jogja, but my first time here. It's a good place for someone like me that loves historical things. I loves the view and the buildings, it's beautiful to be captured. But unfortunately I can't come in to the museum because there's an event, so I just walk around the buildings. And you know what? The entrance ticket is so cheap. Don't forget to use body lotion or sun screen, because it's so hot here 😎

This museum is awesome, a lot of historical corner that you may wanna know. A great diorama in several big rooms that may lead you travel the time when Indonesia fought for freedom. In a right side of a building, u will see a cafe, which is very cozy.. u can play a grand piano too..

The museum have a lot of room and also have a multimedia room. The place quite clean, have a shoop that sell food and drink, have a restroom and prayers room. The prayer room quite small. The ticket price is cheap. The facility quite well manage, but a lot of electronic interactive didn't work. There also a playground and you can rent bike here. There also have a parking lot. The garden around the museum is quite beautiful.

Great historical place. For students, tourists, and people who love history should visit this museum. It contains so many historical things and all the past events also explained by miniature. The entrance tickets also cozy. It's yard also clean and you can take some instragamable photos here.

Fort Vredeburg was formerly a Dutch Fort. Now it is museum which shares the history of Jogjakarta back in early Independence era. There are dioramas which divided in several building. Displays are awesome and very detail. Unlike typical Indonesia museum, the interior inside the building is modern and well design. There are also some interactive games booth. Visitor can also rent tricycle and bicycle around the complex. Located in Malioboro so this place is very easy to access. Entrance fee is very cheap.

Wishing to know more about Indonesia's Independence from the Dutch. This is the place where history are depicted and displayed for the new generation to understand more about this beautiful and fascinating country. Independence that's earned through blood and tears of Indonesia's past fighters and warriors.

Good museum with good displays and information on the history of the Indonesia gaining independence, and Yogyakarta's role. This wasn't listed on any travels blogs or guides about the city, so it was a nice surprise how good it was. We spent about one hour here. Most indoor areas are Aircon bed. Cheap entrance fee as well.
