Do not be intimidated by the standard. It has a very professional, and experience staff, they all know what is happening with a kind of laid back, exterior. The highlight of this place is the outdoor area with its immaculately kept garden and the grounds, great for drinks or dinner. Do not miss the miniature replica of hotel with has been turned into a bee hotel tucked away in the corner of the grounds.
The Baur au Lac is, without a doubt, the grande dame of Zürich. Opened in 1844, it was a favorite of Austria's Empress Elisabeth. Richard Wagner premiered the first act of his Die Walküre opera here, and the Nobel Peace Prize was dreamed up at the hotel. Today the Baur au Lac still attracts a well-heeled clientele. Overlooking Zürich Lake and with a private garden, it offers guests a big dose of privacy and tranquility in the heart of the city. Insider Tip: Baur au Lac is located steps away from Zürich’s most famous shopping street, the Bahnhofstrasse.
Excellent place for dinner. You can even bask in the knowledge that Blatter and co were finally taken down here.
A high end hotel, The Place to hold an expensive, exclusive Apero Riche.
Fantastic place. I loved interior and altmosphere. Absolutely amazing 😍❤❤❤
Outstanding location. Discreet staff. Large Suites. Very accessible to top locations in Zurich.
Nice hotel but felt the restaurant was not up to standard
One can slightly see a rat below the chair, shocked by the situation it took a moment to get the camera, it was unbelievable to see a rat running around the entrance of the kitchen and the entire staff was chatting by the entrance without paying attention to the guests let alone the rat. A waiter came and took away our drinks which were not empty and when we told him to put them back, he gave us an attitude. This happened Sunday June 17 at 10 pm, so it is unfortunate that the manager on duty did not take responsibility for the 5 star terrace. We had family staying at the hotel visiting from abroad and it is a pity that such an establishment is not living up to its name.
