Cabaret Voltaire was the name of a short-lived artistic nightclub in Zürich, Switzerland in 1916 (revived in the 21st century). It was founded by Hugo Ball, with his companion Emmy Hennings, in the back room of Holländische Meierei, Spiegelgasse 1, on February 5, 1916, as a cabaret for artistic and political purposes. Other founding members were Marcel Janco, Richard Huelsenbeck, Tristan Tzara, and Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Jean Arp.
Events at the cabaret proved pivotal in the founding of the anarchic art movement known as Dada. In 2013, the Cabaret Voltaire performances were collectively ranked by Dale Eisinger of Complex as the 25th best work of performance art in history.
Never noticed this place before, but now I've been there I think I'll be back. Nice casual space, not too crowded (Friday night), with a good mix of people. Interesting artwork on the walls, though a lot of it is NSFW. They have a small, but good selection of Absinthe, certainly the best I've found recently. Eclectic mix of reclaimed furniture, which the staff seem happy for customers to rearrange.

Great looking place. Good drinks selection. Not a lot of vice when we went there though (empty really).

Did you know that this is the place the "Dadaism" art style was created? I did not know either first time I visited this place. In this place you will often find a spot for you to sit on a table and enjoy a drink. This is why I am choosing all the time I have some visitors and I was too lazy to reserve a table before. The place is full of young people. They have 7 types of absinthe, for the people who like it.

Good quality cappuccino. Very enjoyable. Art work is trendy and unexplainable angry. Will have to research who the artist was for better appreciation.

Very relaxed atmosphere. Decoration is very cool. However it might offense the pious :D

The birthplace of Dadaism which gives it a cool feel. The drinks are quite standard, nothing out of the ordinary. There's usually different artwork on the walls and overall a cozy place to hang out.
