The Zoo Zürich is a zoo located in Zürich, Switzerland and together with the Basel Zoo is considered one of the best zoos in Europe. Opened in 1929, it is the third oldest zoo in Switzerland (after Basel and Arth-Goldau) and it accumulated a collection of 2,200 specimens of 300 species by its seventy-fifth year. It is located on Zürichbergstrasse, on the lower reaches of the Zürichberg in the Fluntern quarter.
One of its popular events is the penguin parade, which is performed daily after noon if the outside temperature is below ten degrees Celsius.
This is our first visit to Zurich zoo and I am comparing this with my previous Zoo visits in India UK and Singapore. Very compact but covers most animals, was expecting Polar Bear and Panda which was a bummer for my Son. But we enjoyed the feeding of elephant and penguin. I will surely come with my son and wife again as this is a good weekend break for us. Just in the heart of city which makes the transport options easier, lot of food options and also many picnic tables which adds to the fun.

Small enough to not be overwhelmed but large enough to keep you busy for the better part of the day. Plenty of indoor exhibits for cold/wet days. The penguin parade in the winter is a favorite. We love how the zoo is decorated and the layout of small paths that makes my kid feel like he is exploring the wilderness.

Zoo Zürich Zürichbergstrasse 221, 8044 Zürich, Switzerland: The best zoo to be seen. Had never imagined. This zoo is no ordinary zoo, they have the most beautiful habitats for their animals. In this zoo, the animals are not held captive in cages but the keepers really take loving care of these creatures. It was an amazing experience to see this.

Great place to spend an afternoon. Even if it’s rainy there are enough indoor attractions to keep you occupied for several hours. And if it’s not raining the playgrounds are alone are worth a visit. We have yearly passes and I find they have paid off many times over. You can bring your own snacks into the park and there is plenty of room for strollers.

I loved the penguins! I was a bit disappointed with the wildlife animals such as lions, tigers and elephants, since they were confined in very small places. In other hand, they have beautiful species there. Loved the monkeys and the flamingos. If you have an afternoon to spare, it is a very nice visit.

Loved going to Zoos since a small boy, Zürich Zoo is very modern, they try very hard to look after their animals. Put good shoes on, lots of walking needed to see everything. Both of my grandchildren love it.

We all like to see a zoo every now and then. The Zürich Zoo shows adequate hygiene and care for their animals of which they also have a large variety. I really like the updated information plates that they have in the aquarium are where they focus on plastic dumped in the ocean. The petting zoo is also adorable. There are also food locations that are slightly over priced but of good quality. However, I would only give 4/5 stars as I personally believe that some of the enclosures are a bit too small for some of the animals, especially for the birds.

This Zoo is more for older kids and grown ups. I like that the compounds are bigger but you need to walk far and have only small spots where you can observe the animals. There are chances that you don't see the animals. For kids this can be frustrating. There should be more options to observe without distracting the animals. Best visit is in the morning when the zoo opens. I recommend to buy the tickets online before arrival. The line at the cashier may be long especially on sunny weekends. I personally don't like the info pavilions which seem to pop up here and there. I can look up information on the internet or go to a museum. In the Zoo I expect to see animals.

Latest hit: Koalas and the Australian park. Zoo ideal for a relaxed 3-4 hours in a group with kids as well. A bit of walking comes with it. Zoo offers snacks and water/drinks, not a lot of healthier food though. Parking can be tough on busy days, better use the tram line 6 that goes very close to the entrance.

Well kept areas. Ample spaces for animals. Some birds are kept free with no cages. One of the nicest and well kept Zoos we have ever visited. Animals look happy and move freely..........well done to the keepers. It is easily reached by tram from central Zurich.

One of the best zoos I've been to - Worldwide. Plan to spend at least 3 to 4 hours here. You can buy tickets in advance and print them out, saving time and hassle at the entrance. Drinks are expensive (almost 5 CHF for a small bottle), so it might be smart to bring your own refreshments. The park is well organized and even on busy days it doesn't get too crowded.

Fun place. We visited on a holiday because everywhere was close. Excellent exhibitions and the animals were well displayed. Easy to get around if you have a stroller you may want to reconsider a lot of stairs and rocky paths. Take the train.

Amazing zoo. There is a very wide variety of animals, all treated with care. They have built some amazing structures. I particularly recommend the elephant section. And apparently there is soon going to be a whole new savannah area. A must for families with kids but not only. Absolutely recommended

I love going to the zoo. It is a perfect place to go on a not too sunny day and only been there with kids but am sure it's also very nice to explore on your own. The new Australia area with the koala bears is really nice. There are also plenty of playgrounds for the kids and prices for food and ice-cream are fair for what you would expect at a zoo in Switzerland. The animals seem good taken care off. Would recommend a visit.

Great day out for everyone. In sunshine or rain there is always so much to do and see. For kids there are a few playgrounds throughout the zoo. There are also many small food stalls and restaurants. We like the animal enclosures and feel like the animals are treated well.
