Urania Sternwarte is a public observatory in the Lindenhof quarter of Zürich, Switzerland. Its name Urania refers to the muse of astronomy in Greek mythology.
The tour they offer is cool and informative but make sure you go when the sky is really clear.
This is a great place, specially for the kids. We went on a grown-up tour, and it was good - we've seen two stars - the Sun and Arctur, and two planets. The telescope doesn't have an amazing resolution or zoom factor but the way it works is amazing. The whole atmosphere there is awesome. It goes a bit slow, would be great to be able to see more - although I have no idea how much more would be technically possible. The view from there is also great - you see all Zurich actually, in the summer it's still light outside, and when it gets darker the lights are on - and that view is amazing as well. Will definitely come back on kids tour - it is on every first Saturday of the month.
Great view of Zurich old town at night. But tour in German, no English tour otherwise five star review
Great tour. Very well done and interesting! They also have a kids tour.
This historical Observatory is located in center of Zürich city. We had a private guide in English for our children. They are very kind and professional. We like this trip a lot!
Observatory trip only held in German. Bummer for ones who don’t understand it. The entrance to the observatory is through a restaurant below. Elevator’s last stop takes to the observatory and a coffee place beneath. One can go up the elevator and enjoy the view of bahnofstrasse for free.
A great place to learn something about the universe. And in the middle of Zürich
